A narration on fitnah in Sham

Is this Hadith authentic?

تكون فتنة بالشام كان أولها لعب الصبيان ثم لا يستقيم أمر الناس على شيء ولا تكون لهم جماعة حتى ينادي منادي من السماء عليكم بفلان وتطلع كف تشير

Answer

Imam Nu’aym ibn Hammad (rahimahullah) has recorded this as the statement of Sa’id ibn Al Musayyab (rahimahullah) and not as a Hadith of Nabi (sallallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam). This chain consists of a narrator who has been declared weak by some Muhaddithun and very weak according to others.

(Kitabul Fitan, Hadith: 977. Refer: Tahdhibul Kamal, vol. 2 pg. 489-492)

Imam ‘Abdur Razzaq (rahimahullah) has also recorded similar words as the statement of Sa’id ibn Al Musayyab (rahimahullah) with a weak chain.

(Musannaf ‘Abdur Razzaq, Hadith: 20746. Also see: Majma’uz Zawaid, vol. 7 pg. 316)

And Allah Ta’ala Knows best.

A statement like this is suitable for the topic of trials and the signs of Qiyamah, despite its weakness.
