Can non-Muslims be greeted with “As’salamu alaikum va rahmathullahi va barakathou”?

As’salamu alaikum va rahmathullahi va barakathou!! Can we greet a Non Muslim with Salam? If not Why? Jazakallahu Khairan

(Fatwa: 166/127=H/1429)

You can greet them with adaab arz and by moving your hand. These are better ways to greet non-Muslims. However, we should not use the prevalent greeting words of non-Muslims which have religious base; since many words do not have right meaning as per Islam beliefs. If adaab arz is not prevalent in non-Muslim brethren in your area, then you should write us the words of greetings with meanings used in your area, and submit the question again.
