Can Friday prayer be established at other than a mosque or prayer hall?

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Qibla.com

Answered by Shaykh Faraz Rabbani

I was wondering what are the conditions for a mosque/musalla so that the Friday prayer may be held in it.
Currently I’m working for a Muslim company and in their factory they have a room for prayers only, and on Fridays from what I’m told they also have the Friday prayer as oppose the Dhur salat. Is that okay? From my understanding I thought that Friday Prayer has to be held in a Mosque where the all the five salats are established in it and that it is open to every Muslim. But than I could be wrong.

Answer:
In the Name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful

Walaikum assalam wa rahmatullah,

It is not a condition for the validity of Friday prayer that it be held at a mosque or designated prayer hall (musalla). [Shurunbulali, Imdad al-Fattah]

One should review the conditions for the validity of Friday prayer, which may be found in a reliable fiqh manual and in the Hanafi archives at www.sunnipath.com

And Allah alone gives success.

Wassalam,
Faraz Rabbani
