Is it permissible to work as a property dealer while following Islamic law?

I am working as a property dealer, is it haram or halal?

Answer

(Fatwa: 805/805=J)

Business of property dealer is lawful provided it involves no cheating and deception. Likewise, the bayana amount (which is taken by buyer in advance) in case the buyer fails to pay the amount is not returned, this is haram. The amount belongs to buyer; therefore if he is unable to purchase, the amount should be returned to him. This amount is not halal for the seller.
