Problems with purification issues

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Qibla.com

Answered by Shaykh Sohail Hanif, SunniPath Academy Teacher

I am having a lot of cleanliness issues.

These are about the only issues that are bothering me at the moment, cause as u know if u r not clean then you can’t pray salat.

What it is is as following:

whilst sitting on the toilet i feel like splashes are getting onto my legs, and often i can seem to walk away with the peace of mind that i have washed it of cause it is difficult to get the exact spot.

likewise, also recently i have started having doubts about wady again, constantly worried that it is has leaked.

The thing that is worrying me is that u know with filth it can spread and i don’t want to spread filth, if u know what i mean.

i will give u an example of a few things that are on my mind right now.

I checked a checked, but i can’t assure myself that there is no wady on my underpants.

consequently i am in a dilema as to repeat prayers etc.

my peer saab told me follow islam the best u can.

islam is all easy, is it not and has to be followed in its entirety does it not!

I recite audubillah, the qul, make dua with regards to my problems, I read and ask questions

i just want an easy life.

I want heaven.

heaven here on earth

bliss,

where i can go to work

come home to a smiling wife.

etc

follow shariah the shariah in its entirty. and do all that other stuff that they gets u to that higher rank like these aulia’s, rasools, and higher status people that live and have lived, to give an example of a few below:

Imam Ghazali
Allama Iqbal

Muhammad Salilahaulaihiwalam

etc
etc

so brother back to the point of the taharat issues.

what shall i do

my peer sahib (who is not my peer anymore cause i have broken bayt) said ‘follow islam the best you can’.

i want it easy

get up out of bed

slip on my clothes and slippers,

walk to the bathroom

do ghusl

and and walk to the masala

and say takbir

raise my hands to my ears

and resume the meeting with my lord

(salat is the mirage of believers as u may already know)

then make dua at the end of namaz

and walk away

get on with what needs to be got on with until the next namaz

and so forth

and praying isha

jump straight from the musala straight into bed.

and keep going like this

do hajj

etc
etc

the pillars (u know what i mean)

and when death comes.

have reached my destined spiritual station.

and go to the jannah where resides prophet Muhammad salilahaulaihiwasalam, and stay in that jannat, with the prophet, sit with him and meet and greet him, learn from him, and be blessed with the look of his face every moment of the everlasting life (inshallah, presuming i get to jannat), (this is what i would like, we can all hope, and make dua for this, i do, )

Back to the issue of taharat

i overcame this constant worry of wady spilling in the past,

likewise i never really had this worry with regards to splashes from the toilet, i would just read and learn as i went along the fiqh principles, etc and the problems just went away.

Now i have learnt the stuff i know it is in my head somewhere and i haven’t forgot the stuff, but things have became difficult again.

i.e constant wady spilling worries, cleaning the toilet, worried about spreading filth, the worries about snot (i.e nose reside), i tend to get into what i think is misgiving when i set of on the mission to clean my body and clothes of nose residue and for that matter of fact other filth.

what shall i do?

help!

Answer:
In the Name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful

Assalamu alaykum

I am sorry to hear of the problems that you are having. We have many posts in the Sunnipath archives that deal with misgivings (waswasa) and how to deal with them. Please read them.

In general my advice is to take it easy and do your best and don’t worry about minute details. The best thing to do is to keep the company of religious Muslims and imitate them. Do wudu as quickly as them, pray as easily as them and then get on with life as they do. People most prone to waswasa are those that learn Islamic knowledge from books or short Islamic courses and then practice their religion alone, away from other Muslims. As long as one keeps in touch with scholars, observes them and imitates their practice and approach one will be fine. Pray to Allah to grant you good Muslim friends and teachers that you can keep the company of.

And Allah knows best.
