As salamu alaykum respected mufti, I often hear people respond: “al hamdulillah”, when asked how they are?/how do you do?
my question is: when you are asked how are you and the person answers al hamdulillah without adding any other words like “yes” or “no” is it a Sunnah oh no?
Answer:
Wa’alaykum as Salam wa rahmatullahi wa barakatuhu,
As Muslim, we praise Allah in all conditions. It is recommended to reply by saying Alhamdulillah, however it cannot be called a Sunnah.
And Allaah Ta’aala knows best
Wassalaam,
Ismail Moosa (Mufti)
