As salam ale kum Respected Mufti Sahab, Last few months my wife is having a monthly periods Haydh cycle of 16 days. She does not want to loss 16 days of fasting in Ramadan, as it is difficult for her to do fasting after Ramadan. Can she take medicine to stop or postponed Haydh. Is it allowed? Kindly advise as per Shaafi Madhab. Please also let me know what is the maximum lenght of menses as per Imam Shaafi Madhab Jazak Allah Khair

Answer

The Maximum period of Haidh according to the Shafi Mazhab is 15 days.

A women is allowed to use these medicines as long as they don’t cause harm
to the health.
