Earnings from a haram business

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Qibla.com

Answered by Shaykh Faraz Rabbani

If a Muslim family starts a food business which will also serve alcohol (sharab) and pig containing dishes, then the money profit out of that business, will it be halal or haram?

Answer:
In the Name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful

Walaikum assalam wa rahmatullah,

The Messenger of Allah (Allah bless him and give him peace) told us,

“Allah is Pure, and accepts only the pure.” [Related by Muslim and Tirmidhi]

The earnings will be haram and sinful to the extent of the revenue from haram and sinful products and services.

It would be obligatory for them to:

a) rid themselves from the unlawful earnings – Please go to www.SunniPath.com, and search for giving away unlawful earnings

b) sincerely repent to Allah – Please go to www.SunniPath.com, and search for sincere repentance

c) take the means to cease and desist from all haram and sinful activities, for the sake of Allah.

Allah has told us throughout the Qur’an that He loves those who repent, those who do good, and those who return to Allah.

And Allah alone gives success.

Wassalam,

Faraz Rabbani
