Earnings

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Askimam.org

assalamualikum.i wanted to ask that my parents earning is mixed( ie some is  halal and some is haram) so what ruling applies for the children and the wife? do they all eat haram? so will the worship and duas of the children and wife too be non-accepted since i read that Allah doesnt accpet any act of the person who eats haram. also if a halal business is started using loan from a bank(and you payback the loan as interest  over years) so will earnings from that bussiness be halal? jazakumullah khair.

Answer

In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.

1)     Kindly resubmit your question detailing how your parents earn their money. Without knowing such details, we are unable to address your concern regarding eating food purchased with the earnings of your parents.

2)     If a ḥalāl business is started using an interest-bearing loan from a bank, the earnings from such a business will be ḥalāl.

Nevertheless, if a person pays any interest to the bank due to delaying in repayment of the loan, he should seek repentance for such an action. Nabī Ṣallallāhu ʿalaihi wa Sallam has cursed a person who pays interest as narrated in an authentic Ḥadīth. [Bukhārī (2086); Muslim (105 and 106); Abū Dāwūd (3333); Tirmidhi (1206); Nasaī (3416 and 5103); Ibn Mājah (2277)]
