Make dhikr when hearing thunder

What is the authenticity of this Hadith?

Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) said:

“Remember Allah Ta’ala [make dhikr] when hearing thunder for thunder will not harm the dhakir [the one remembering Allah]”

Answer

Imam Tabarani (rahimahullah) has recorded this Hadith on the authority of Sayyiduna ‘Abdullah ibn ‘Abbas (radiyallahu ‘anhuma).

(Al Mu’jamul Kabir, Hadith: 11371, Kitabud Du’a, Hadith: 982)

Hafiz Ibn Hajar (rahimahullah) says, ‘The chain has some weakness’

(Nataijul Afkar, vol. 5 pg. 143, Al Futuhatur Rabbaniyyah, vol 4 pg. 286. Also see: Majma’uz Zawaid, vol. 10 pg. 136)

However, the Hadith is suitable for practice as is the case with Hadiths of this nature.

See one form of dhikr you may recite at that time here.

And Allah Ta’ala Knows best.
