Translation of the supplication to recite during thunder

What is the translation of the verse cited in this answer and what is the significance of reciting it?

سبحان الذي يُسَبِّحُ الرعدُ بحمدِهِ والملائكةُ من خِيفَتِه

Answer

The actual verse of the Holy Quran is as follows:

وَيُسَبِّحُ الرَّعْدُ بِحَمْدِهِ وَالْمَلَائِكَةُ مِنْ خِيفَتِهِ

‘The thunder glorifies His praise, as do the Angels out of fear for Him’

(Surah Ra’d, Verse: 13)

The translation of the supplication of ‘Amir ibn Abdillah (rahimahullah) is as follows:

‘Glory be to The One whom thunder glorifies His praise, as do the Angels out of fear for Him.’

This was the supplication of ‘Amir ibn ‘Abdillah (rahimahullah), a Tabi’i who was the son of Sayyiduna ‘Abdullah ibn Zubayr (radiyallahu ‘anhuma). There is no specific reward for reciting this du’a. However the Muhaddithun have recorded this narration under the chapter ‘What to do/recite when one hears thunder‘. The practice of this great Tabi’i is therefore worthy of emulation.

The link between the Verse and supplication is quite apparent.
