I have had these episodes this last year where I do not know what I am doing and anyway, I threatened to kill myself on the phone to my husband if he did not divorce me. He could not reach me by phone and thought I would kill myself so he texted talaq with no intentions of talaq but scared I would kill myself if he did not do it. I had every intention on killing myself but it went away when he texted talaq. I had a similar spell a few months ago and I threatened to kill myself if he did not divorce me and he texted talaq with no intention of divorce. Is the talaq valid or invalid. He said he panicked and was forced to do it.

Wa’alaykum as Salam wa rahmatullahi wa barakatuhu,
If your husband only texted the divorce to you, and he did not verbally utter it, then no divorce falls.
A written divorce under duress is not valid, whilst a verbal divorce still takes place, even if a person is forced.

لو أكره على أن يكتب طلاق امرأته فكتب لا تطلق لأن الكتابة أقيمت مقام العبارة باعتبار الحاجة ولا حاجة هنا كذا في الخانية، وفي البزازية أكره على طلاقها فكتب فلانة بنت فلان طالق لم يقع اهـ. (البحر الرائق شرح كنز الدقائق – 3 / 264)
