Effect on Haj

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Fatwaa.com

Asalaamalaikum
2018 we went to Haj. Before leaving I intended that it will be only 14 days before leaving to Mina.so we need to offer Qasar. I informed my family and they were also praying same(but after couple of days). During Haj , one mufti told me you should pray full and one qasr. This caused lot of confusion in my mind and I was thinking since these many days was I doing wrong?
I told them that as per my calculations it is Qasr. They said ok , don’t stress but somehow my mind was only thinking that I came for such spiritual journey and may b I did a big mistake. Before leaving , I also didn’t check with anyone which led to more doubts.
1. Will this affect Haj as I was thinking a lot about salah. Whether I should pray full or Qasr. I was anyhow following Imam but when I prayed alone I prayed Qasar only.
2. Due to confusion for one salah, if one prays 2 then again prays 4. Which counts?
3. Also does this constant thinking and confusion affect Haj or any of it arkans?
4. I was more concerned about my mother as she came along and I didn’t guide her as she was praying Qasar. Will this affect anything? I am worried that my mother came and I didn’t guide her proper and was always in confused state.
Finally, these thoughts sometimes comes to my mind and I think because of lack of knowledge I did some big mistakes.
Please clarify if any of the above things will cause impact

Answer

Wa’alaykum as Salam wa rahmatullahi wa barakatuhu,

In future, it is best to ask only one Mufti, and follow the ruling which he gives.  That will save you from the confusion, and you are not responsible if he made a mistake.

Since you clearly had the intention of staying less than 14 days, you will be a Musaafir, and hence your prayers done alone as Qasr are valid.  Your Haj is valid and there is nothing for you to worry about.

And Allaah Ta’aala knows best
