Is it better to do Qurbani in one’s local country or is it better to send it abroad?

Is it better to do Qurbani in one’s local country or is it better to send it abroad?

Answer:

Assalamualaykum wa Rarahmatullahi was Barakaatuhu

It is best to make one’s qurbâni with one’s own hands in his own locality as there are many blessings one can gain. He/she will be able to slaughter the animal which was the practice of our beloved prophet Sallallahu Alaihi wa Sallam. Secondly, one will be able to eat from the Qurbani animal which is Mustahhab (preferable) (Fatawa Raheemiyah vol 10 pg 28, Darrul Muhtaar vol 6 pg 328).

However, if a person cannot slaughter an animal, he should appoint someone to do so and also present himself at the time when the animal is being slaughtered. But if a woman cannot be present there due to Purdah (being unable to observe to veil), then there is no harm in her not being present when her animal is being slaughtered. (Behishti Zewar)
