Qurbani for Others

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by CouncilofUlama.co.za

Q: Is it permissible for husband to offer qurbani on behalf of his wife and both his parents who are alive; but not for himself?

A: Remember if one is by the means to make Qurbani, it will be compulsory to make Qurbani for oneself and thereafter, if one wishes, for others. If a person is by the means then it is compulsory to first make Qurbani for oneself.  Thereafter if one makes for the wife or parents who are still alive, he should inform them that he is making Qurbani on their behalf so that they may give their consent.
