Menstruation Questions

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Qibla.com

Answered by Shaykh Faraz Rabbani

A woman has hayd for five days after which she takes ghusl and stays clean for almost a day. Is she considered to be in the state of hayd if the following day one tiny light brown drop shows? Does this invalidate her fast? Does she have to take ghusl again and when? What happens if another drop appears again after another day?

Answer:
In the Name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful

Walaikum assalam,

1. All blood or discoloration within the possible period of menstruation (10 days in the Hanafi school) is considered menstruation.

2. Given this, even if “one tiny light brown drop” shows, this is considered menstruation.

3. Fasting is not valid during menstruation. Given this, the fast will be invalidated, though she will have the full reward for her intention to fast.

4. She has to make ghusl when discolored discharge stops.

Recently, two articles on menstruation were posted on the Hanafi list.

Walaikum assalam,
Faraz Rabbani.
