When Has Menstruation Ended?

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Qibla.com

Answered by Shaykh Sohail Hanif, SunniPath Academy Teacher

How should we check to see whether hayd (menstruation) has terminated? I use cotton and I scrub it lightly against the vagina. Sometimes I see one or two tiny specks of pink on it. So is this slight discoloration still considered as hayd?

Answer:
In the Name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful

In the name of Allah, Most Compassionate, Most Merciful,

The general rule is that as long as one observes any kind of color at all, it still counts as menstruation as long as it is within ten days of the first sight of blood. One’s menstruation is finished when one does not observe any color at all on one’s kursuf, the cotton which is placed at the vaginal opening secure between the labia minora lips.
