Can i pray like the Shafi do

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Qibla.com

Answered by Shaykh Faraz Rabbani

The area where I live there are only Shafi Followers. We are only 3 Hanafi’s in the area. Many of the brothers are not learned. We have a small Jamaat Khana where we perform our salaah. Because I did Hifz and completed 3 juz of the Quraan and have done my elementary Islamic Studies at the Muslim school which I attended I am chosen to lead the Salaah. After speaking with a mufti in my area he advised that it would be fine for me to make the Qunoot in Fajar (he is a Hanafi mufti) however I would like to know from yourself, if it would be fine for me as a Hanafi to make other actions in my salaah to accommodate the Shafi followers and to teach them the correct shafi prayer, these would include pausing after reciting the fatiha to enable the followers to recite their fatiha etc..

Answer:
In the Name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful

Walaikum assalam wa rahmatullah,

I pray this finds you in the best of health and spirits.
Yes, there is nothing wrong with this, especially if everyone is Shafii. In fact, there would appear to be a religious maslaha in doing so. You may want to consider the excellent courses in Shafii fiqh offered by the SunniPath Academy.
