Virtue of Sayyiduna Zubayr (radiyallahu ‘anhu)

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by HadithAnswers.com

Can, you confirm the narrations, and whether they are authentic where Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alayhi wasallam) said that Sayyiduna Zubayr (radiyallahu ‘anhu) is his disciple, and how Allah honoured Sayyiduna Zubayr (radiyallahu ‘anhu) by having all the angels wear yellow turbans as Sayyiduna Zubayr (radiyallahu ‘anhu)was wearing one on the day of Badr.

Answer

1. Sayyiduna Jabir (radiyallahu’anhu) reports that Rasulullah (sallallahu’alayhi wasallam) said:

‘Indeed every Nabi had a special disciple. My special disciple is Zubayr.’

(Sahih Bukhari, Hadith: 2846)

2. Hafiz Ibn Hajar (rahimahullah) has written that Imam Ibn Sa’d (rahimahullah) has recorded a narration with an authentic (sahih) chain stating that Sayyuduna Zubayr (radiyallahu’anhu) wore a yellow turban on the day of Badr. Rasulullah (sallallahu’alayhi wasallam) then said:’Indeed the Angels descended [to assist the Muslim army] in the same sign [clothing] as Zubayr.’

(Tabaqat Ibn Sa’d, vol.3 pg.103 & Al-Isabah, number: 2796)

And Allah Ta’ala Knows best,
