Procedure for ghusl

I am trying to get clarification on the issue of gusul. I have read up alot of the already posted answers on this site but I seem to be reading differing points of view. I was wondering if you could clarify this issue for me and provide me with a detailed procedure of how to do gusul (to purify yourself after intercourse) – from a hanafi point of view (if that makes any difference). The views I have read so far is that you need to make intention to do gusul, wash your hands, clean the private parts and impure areas, do wudu and then wash the body with water whilst rubbing all parts of the body three times (so thats pouring water over your body 3 times and rubbing your whole body 3 times). The other version is that if you submerge yourself in water then that too is satisfactory, i.e. submerge yourself into a full bath. Therefore, does one not need to rub their body 3 times? do they still need to perform wudu, etc? I am really confused on the issue and would very much appreciate some clarification.
