While making wudu is it sunnah to wash the right nostrils first and then the left?

Answer:
In the Name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful

Walaikum assalam wa rahmatullah,

It is recommended to:

1. Take water into both nostrils at once.

2. After this, let it out of the right nostril first (covering the left one with one’s left thumb), and then out of the left nostril (covering the right one with one left forefinger).

[Fatawa Hindiyya (1.9), quoting Imam Abu’l Layth al-Samarqandi]

Wassalam,

Faraz Rabbani
