Assisting in sin

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Qibla.com

Answered by Shaykh Faraz Rabbani

I have a friend who has been offered a job as a newspaper distributor, is it halal though the newspapers contain articles that might be against Islam and advertisement with half nude women.

Answer:
In the Name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful

Wa Alaykum Assalam wa Rahmatullah wa Barakatuhu,

In the Name of Allah, Most Merciful & Compassionate

If the job one is doing oneself is halal, then one’s income is halal. If there is incidental haram in it that is not through one’s own direct activity—as in the case mentioned in the question—then this does not vitiate permissibility. However, it would be from praiseworthy piety to avoid matters where one’s halal work has obvious haram uses.
