Is it proper to sever off the horns of an animal for Qurbani or shorten it for beauty, according to Shari’ah?

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Jamia Binoria
What is the opinion of the scholars of Islam regarding the following issue: Nowadays, in many cattle farms (in which animals are reared for Qurbani), the animals’ horns are either completely severed off from its root or shortened by it being shaved or cut off gradually. This is all done for the sake of beauty.
I would like to ask that according to the Shari’ah, is it proper to sever off the horns of an animal for Qurbani from its root or to shorten it by gradually shaving or cutting it off? Is it permissible to slaughter an animal for Qurbani that’s horns has been severed from the roots or shortened for the sake of beauty? Please guide us through the light of the Shari’ah regarding this important issue so that we all can be aware about it and properly fulfil our compulsion of Qurbani.

الجواب حامدا و مصلیا

If an animal’s horn has been severed off from its root and from which its brain is affected, then it is not permissible to slaughter this animal for the sake of Qurbani. However, if the animal’s horns has not been severed from the root, but merely for the purpose of beauty it has been shaved/cut off and shortened, then slaughtering such animal for the sake of Qurbani is permissible.
And Allah knows best.
