‘Ammar ibn Yasir (radiyallahu ‘anhuma) always chose correctly

Question

What is the reference of this Hadith?

“‘Ammar is not given a choice between two matters, except that he chooses the one with more guidance in it.”

Answer

Imam Tirmidhi (rahimahullah) has recorded this Hadith.

Sayyidah ‘Aaishah (radiyallahu ‘anha) reports that Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) said: “When ‘Ammar is given a choice between two things, he chooses the one with more guidance.”

(Sunan Tirmidhi, Hadith: 3799)

A similar Hadith has also been recorded on the authority of Sayyiduna ‘Abdullah ibn Mas’ud (radiyallahu ‘anhu) in Musnad Ahmad and Musannaf Ibn Abi Shaybah.

(Musnad Ahmad, vol. 1 pg. 389 and pg. 445, Musannaf Ibn Abi Shaybah, Hadith: 32912)
