Will we acquire the promised virtue even without fulfilling the clauses?

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by HadithAnswers.com

The virtues for certain A’mal are mentioned with certain clauses. If these clauses are not fulfilled does one receive the same virtue? eg Ishraq Salah earning a person the reward of Hajj and ‘Umrah has been mentioned as after sitting in same place making dhikr till Ishraq.

However if a person does not sit on his musallah and goes home gets involved in his necessities and later reads Ishraq when the time sets in, will he also get the same reward (ie of Hajj and ‘Umrah)?

Answer

One will indeed be rewarded for the act.

However, to acquire the promised reward the mentioned conditions obviously need to be fulfilled.

  • This Hadith has been cited by Imam Tirmidhi and Imam Baghawi (rahimahullah) under the chapter of sitting in the Masjid after Fajr Salah.
  • This Hadith is also quoted together with the Hadiths that state that Rasulullah (sallallahu’alayhi wasallam) would remain in the masjid after fajr till sunrise.

These two points further support what I have mentioned above.

(Sunan Tirmidhi, Hadith: 586, Sharhus Sunnah, Hadith: 710 and Majma’uz Zawaid, vol.10 pg.104-105)

Some commentators have allowed the person in Makkah to engage in tawaf and still acquire this reward.
