An unauthentic narration regarding a dream of Nabi (sallallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam)

What is the status of the following Hadith in Kanzul ‘Ummal?

Nabi (sallallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) said,”I saw my Rabb in a dream in the form of a youngster with long hair, wearing gold shoes and he had a gold sheet over his face”

Answer

Imam Tabarani (rahimahullah) has recorded this Hadith on the authority of Sayyidah Ummut Tufayl, the wife of Sayyiduna Ubayy ibn Ka’b (radiyallahu ‘anhuma).

(Al Mu’jamul Kabir, Hadith: 346 , volume: 25)

However, in addition to the chain of narrators being very weak, Imam Ibn Hibban and Hafiz Ibn Hajar (rahimahumallah) have also declared the text of this Hadith as extremely weak [munkar]. Imam Nasai (rahimahullah) has also expressed his disapproval. ‘Allamah Dhahabi (rahimahullah) has declared a similar text as very weak [munkar]. This Hadith should not be quoted.
