Meaning of part of a Hadith on reciting the first ten verses of Surah Al Muminun

What is the translation of ‘أقامهن’ in the following Hadith?

أنزل علي عشر آيات، من أقامهن دخل الجنة، ثم قرأ قد أفلح المؤمنون

Answer

This narration is recorded in Sunan Tirmidhi among other Hadith collections.

(Sunan Tirmidhi, Hadith: 3173)

Translation

Nabi (sallallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) said, “Ten Verses were revealed to me. Whoever abides by them shall enter Jannah. Nabi (sallallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) then recited the first ten Verses of Surah Al Mu’minun.” (Surah 23)

‘أقام’ translates as, ‘Whoever abides by these verses’. The commentators explain it to mean, ‘Whoever constantly recites these verses and practices on its commands’

(Tuhfatul Ahwadhi, Hadith: 3173 and Mir’atul Mafatih, Hadith: 2518)

And Allah Ta’ala Knows best.
