Is It Permissible To Have a Roast Dinner on Christmas Day

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by DarulIftaBirmingham

Question

If someone has a roast dinner the day before Christmas or maybe 2 days before Christmas, is it wrong?

In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful

Answer:

If you are making food on Christmas Day with the intention to celebrate Christmas, then it is impermissible.

If you are having a dinner party with family and friends on Christmas Day due to it being a public holiday and it is convenient for everyone to get together and not with the intention to celebrate Christmas then there is nothing wrong with it in principle.

Only Allah knows best.
