Starting Haidh in Umrah

Question

I am a 21-year-old girl. On 16th May, I started my journey for Umrah from Bangalore and reached Makkah late at night. After taking rest in the hotel room, I made wudu, offered Fajr salah and completed the necessary acts of Umrah i.e tawaaf around the Ka’ba, Sa’ee of Safa and Marwa and cut an inch of my hair.

However, after performing all of these acts when I used the bathroom, I realized that my periods had already started. I am not really sure as to whether it had started while performing the tawaaf or after performing the tawaaf.

Is there any expiation required? Please reply.

Haidh starts from the time one sees one’s garment stained, therefore there is no expiation required since you saw your garment stained after completing the required actions of your Umrah. However, if you are sure that it may have started during your tawaf, then it is wajib for you to slaughter a camel or a cow as expiation for performing tawaf in the state of impurity.[1]
