Entering a Club

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by CouncilofUlama.co.za

Q: 1. Someone told me that they don’t think entering a club is haraam if you not drinking and smoking there and I must show them where in the Qur’an its wrong to have fun.

2. Someone said they will buy meat that does not have an halaal sticker on because all meat is slaughtered with the purpose of eating and its not like they buying pork so why must they buy meat by only halaal places

3. The same person said that if Khamr (intoxicating substances, alcohol) was made haraam because it takes away your sanity then they don’t think its haraam if you drink an amount that doesn’t intoxicate you or if its an ingredient in cake, bread etc.

A: 1. Allah speaks in Quraan of the true believers ” and those who do not witness acts of futility “if it is the quality of the believers not to. Witness  futility then what  can we say about witnessing acts such as dancing, music, consumption of alcohol, intermingling  of sexes and gyrating  of semi nude bodies.

2. It is understood from sunnah all meat is haraam until it is slaughtered by a Muslim or people of the book whilst taking the name  of Allah. So in short until it is not reliabily learnt that the original impermissibilty  is  removed the status quo of impermissibilty  will prevail.

3. Sunnah is our sole source of sharia and not logic, hence  we subject our logic  to sharia abd not vice versa. Sharia has cleared  showed us that “khamar whether in large quantities  or small quantities both  are haraam.” Hence in the presence of clear textual evidences we put our logic aside and accept the textual evidences.
