Driving Lessons for Females

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Askmufti.co.za

Q: My husband gives driving lessons to females. Is the money that he earns haram. Also is it ok to spend that money towards household stuff? Is the sin as though he is committing zina?

A: Your husband is certainly committing a sin when he sits next to females while giving lessons. This is haraam. The hadith of Rasoolullah (sallallahu alayhi wasallam) prohibits a man and woman from being alone, close to each other.

In the course of the driving lesson, his hands may come into contact with her hands or some part of her body. This is the zina of touching. The woman may not be clad properly, thus creating a bigger problem

Your husband should restrict his clients to males only
