Q: Is abortion permissible when the mother is already feeding an 11 months old baby and only 2 weeks have passed since the date of next periods (4 weeks after conception)> Moreover the mother’s health is also not too favourable as she is already feeding the baby.
A: Abortion before 4 months of pregnancy is only permissible if the mother’s health or life will suffer if she continues with the pregnancy or she delivers the baby. If there is no real danger or serious threat to her health then abortion is not permissible, even after 4 weeks or pregnancy.
Breast-feeding while pregnant will not affect the mother or her fetus at all, as is mentioned in the hadith. (Mishkatul-Masaabeeh)
