Prostate Removal and Salaah: Can He Lead His Wife?

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Muftionline.co.za

Q: One of my brothers in the Masjid had his Prostate removed and as such he has a dripping problem. Meaning he leaks and he has to wear a Pad. What is the condition of his Salaah. Secondly, can he lead his wife in Salaah?

Bismillaah

A: If he qualifies as a ma`zoor then he will only have to make wudhu at the beginning of the namaaz time irrespective of how many times the urine comes out. A ma`zoor is that person who experiences a breaker of wudhu, like passing of gas or urine incontinence so frequently that from the beginning of the namaaz time until the end of the namaaz time he / she is unable to perform wudhu and read namaaz without that particular breaker of wudhu occurring. If he does not qualify as a ma`zoor then he will have to make wudhu whenever his wudhu breaks.

If he is a ma`zoor then he cannot lead her in salaah.

And Allah Ta’ala (الله تعالى) knows best.
