Can women be taught by men and attend school for extra education according to Shari’ah?

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Jamia Binoria
To what extent should women be taught? After being taught necessary knowledge, is it okay, as per Shari’ah, to send girls who have reached the age of puberty to school for extra education? Teaching women has spoken about in many Ahadith in such a way from which it is understood that the men used to teach the women inside of the home, like this Narration: علموا اھلیکم, and so on. So, can woman learn from strange men?

الجواب حامدا و مصلیا

It is not only permissible, but also incumbent, for a woman to seek the necessary knowledge about her religion. If after being taught necessary knowledge, it is better if extra education can be provided for her within the boundaries of her home, otherwise it is also permissible for her to learn in a protected environment (i.e. madrasa etc.). It is also permissible for men to teach women with proper observance the boundaries of modesty and Hijab, on the condition that there be no fear of temptation.
