Wudu when sleeping sitting – men and women

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Qibla.com

Answered by Shaykh Faraz Rabbani

I heard that men will not lose their wudu if they fall asleep while their buttocks is firmly planted, but that this is not the case for women. Is that true? Can you please clarify?

Answer:
In the Name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful

What the Hanafi texts state is that the ruling applies to both men and women. What is different, however, is when women fall asleep prostrating, as explained below

And Allah alone gives success.

Wassalam,

Faraz Rabbani
