Is it permissible for a seriously ill person to consume small amounts of liquor as advised by a doctor?

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Darulifta-Deoband.com
if a man is seriously ill by cold and doctor suggest him to take a small quantity of liquor and patient took relief by liquor so it is right according to our religion or not?

Answer

(Fatwa: 146/146/M=1432)

There are too many lawful and halal medicines available for the treatment of cold. It is unlawful to treat with unlawful items when lawful items are available. According to Shariah, wine is haram. It is not lawful to use it but in severely exigent cases.
