Sharing a hair/tooth brush

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by HadithAnswers.com

What is the authenticity of this that sharing a hairbrush causes hatred and toothbrush enmity

Answer

Sharing a hair brush

I haven’t seen this as a Hadith.

Toothbrush

As far as sharing a toothbrush is concerned, the Hadith mentions that Rasulullah (sallallahu’alayhi wasallam) had borrowed the miswak of his brother in law, Sayyiduna ‘Abdur Rahman ibn Abi Bakr (radiyallahu’anhu) while Nabi (sallallahu’alayhi wasallam) was on his death bed. This proves the opposite of what you are querying…

(Sahih Bukhari, Hadith: 890)

In fact in the above reference, Imam Bukhari (rahimahullah) has quoted this Hadith under the: Chapter on [the permissibility of] using someone else’s Miswak)

Also see ‘Umdatul Qari, Hadith: 890.

And Allah Ta’ala Knows best,
