Sins of childhood

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Tafseer Raheemi

Question: If a person sinned as a child, is he held accountable?

Answer: No, because you are only held accountable for your actions after you have reached puberty and matured.

If someone committed sins when they were close to maturity, or are unsure as to whether they had matured or not, then they should ask Allah to forgive them, because Allah is التواب الرحيم – most forgiving and kind – and He also says, “”قل يا عبادي الذين أسرفوا على أنفسهم لا تقنطوا من رحمة الله إن الله يغفر الذنوب جميعا إنه هو الغفور ارحيم”

The method to repent is to pray to Allah, and ask him to forgive you, and show genuine regret and remorse over your sins, and vow never to do them again.
