Shall I go for Tablighi Jama’at or pay my debts off first?

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Tafseer Raheemi

Question: I wanted to ask that alhamdulillah my husband goes regularly to Jama’at every 4 weeks. He also goes 40 days every year. We have a lot of debts to pay and we pay some money every month, however the time he goes for 40 days, we are unable to pay someone for three or four months which pushes us back.

Please advise is it ok for him to go 40 days in this condition or better to pay off the debt?

Jazakallah

Answer: It is better to pay off the debt. Going in Jama’at (in the present tarteel) is at most Mustahab, but paying off debt is Fardh, so be careful with regards to debts.
