Toes During Prostration

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Qibla.com

Answered by Shaykh Faraz Rabbani

I know the toes need to be placed on the ground during prostration, but not so long back I read a Hanafi Fiqh text that stated that the toes must be bent and must face the Qibla also. Is this correct?

Answer:
In the Name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful

Al-Salam alaykum

Yes. That is the sunnah method.

Response from Sidi Faraz

Walaikum assalam,

Just so build on Mawlana Abu Usamah’s answer:

That one toe of one foot touch the ground during prostration is fard; that one toe from both feet do so is wajib. Pointing the bottom of the toes towards the qibla is a confirmed sunna. [As mentioned by al-Tahtawi and by Ibn Abidin]

Leaving a sunna is blameworthy, and if done repeatedly without an excuse, it is sinful.

Wassalam,

Faraz.
