Delaying Maghrib

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Qibla.com

Answered by Shaykh Abu Usamah

Did the Prophet (SAW) delay the Maghrib prayer during the month of Ramadan? In my local mosque they pray it about 15 minutes after the start of Maghrib time, is this according to the Sunnah of the Holy Prophet (SAW)?

Answer:
In the Name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful

As far as I know there was no special delay in Ramadan during the time of Rasulullah (sallallahu alayi wasallam.) In most of the masjids here they pray the salah about 10 min after the beginning of the adhan.

In the Hanafi school it is preferable to pray Maghrib immediately after the adhan without any delay.

It is makruh to delay it until the time when many stars begin to appear – usually about half an hour after sunset.
