Q: Is it permissible for a person who is able to perform the entire Salaah standing, together with making the ruku’ normally and performing sajdah on the ground, to sit on a chair and perform Salaah?
A: It is not permissible for one who is able to perform Salaah standing, together with making ruku’ and performing the sajdah on the ground, to sit on a chair. If the one who is able to perform the Salaah in this manner sits on a chair and performs Salaah, the Salaah will not be valid. However if a person cannot manage standing and is unable to perform sajdah on the ground, then it will be permissible for him to sit on a chair and perform the Salaah.

( إذا تعذر على المريض كل القيام ) وهو الحقيقي ومثله الحكمي ذكره فقال ( أو تعسر ) كل القيام ( بوجود ألم شديد أو خاف ) بأن غلب في ظنه بتجربة سابقة أو إخبار طبيب مسلم حاذق أو ظهور الحال ( زيادة المرض أو ) خاف ( بطأه ) أي طول المرض ( به ) أي بالقيام ( صلى قاعدا بركوع وسجود ) لما روى عن عمران بن الحصين قال كان بي بواسير فسألت النبي صلى الله عليه و سلم عن الصلاة فقال ” صل قائما فإن لم تستطع فقاعدا فإن لم تستطع فعلى جنب ” زاد النسائي ” فإن لم تستطع فمستلقيا لا يكلف الله نفسا إلا وسعها ” ( ويقعد كيف شاء ) أي كيف يتيسر له بغير ضرر من تربع أو غيره ( في الأصح ) من غير كراهة كذا روي عن الإمام للعذر
و قال في حاشية الطحطاوي : قوله ( وهو الحقيقي ) أي ما ذكره المصنف أولا هو التعذر الحقيقي وقوله ومثله الحكمي أي ومثل التعذر الحقيقي التعذر الحكمي وهو التعسر ، قوله ( أو غيره ) كاحتباء أو جلوس على ركبتيه كالتشهد لأن عذر المرض أسقط عنه الأركان فلأن يسقط عنه الهيئات أولى كذا في الشرح (حاشية الطحطاوي على مراقي الفلاح ص430-431)
