Q: Is it permissible for an old person around 70 years to pat on the head out of affection a girl 25 years of age on the head.

Bismillaah

A: If she is a na mahram to him he should refrain from this. Apart from the hands till the wrists the entire body of a woman as well as her hair forms part of the satar of a woman. Hence it is impermissible for a na mahram man to touch the body of a na mahram woman.

And Allah Ta’ala (الله تعالى) knows best.
