I would like to know the law of the Shari’ah regarding newborn baby girl.

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Jamia Binoria

A baby girl was born to my home and now I would like to know the law of the Shari’ah regarding what I should do now. Is giving a name after 7 days in accordance with Islamic Tradition? And what will I have to do specifically? Please expound on your answer.

الجواب حامدا و مصلیا

When a child a born, without any delay, the Azan should be said in its right ear and the Iqamah should be said in its left ear. Then giving an Islamic name on the 7th day after birth, shaving its head, sacrificing two sheep or goats on behalf of a boy, and one on behalf of a girl, then giving the weight of its shaven hair as charity in gold or silver is the Islamically traditional and recommended way, hence the question should act according to this.
And Allah knows best.
