What is the correct way of raising the finger in Thashahhud – تشہد?

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Jamia Binoria

What is the correct way of raising the finger in Thashahhud – تشہد? Should it be done twice or just once?

الجواب حامدا و مصلیا

The correct way of indicating the finger in Thashahhud is; join the middle finger and the thumb and make a ring. Fold the fourth and the fifth finger and raise the second finger on ASHADU AN LA ILAHA in such a way that the finger is bent towards the Qibla and not raised straight towards the sky and when saying ILLALLAH lower the second finger but the positions of the other fingers should be maintained as already made. And doing so once is sufficient and not necessary to keep on repeating.
