Question

Assalamu Alaikum.

When a women’s water breaks, is that water Napaak(impure)?, If it is, then will she have to change her clothes if it gets onto her clothes?

Also what about the situation in which the water continuously flows for a whole Salah time and she doesn’t have enough time to change her clothes, do wudhu and pray her Salah. In this situation, she will just do Wudhu and pray in those clothes?

Answer:

The “water” that comes out because of childbirth is najas (impure). It will have to be cleaned off the body and clothing before Salaat. Ghusl will be compulsory after such impurity[1], the clothing will also have to be changed.

Salaat will not be permissible without establishing the Tahaarat of both body and clothing. It will be better for her to change the clothing or at least ensure that the clothes are dry, before doing Salaat in them.
