Ruling on Removing the Extra Hair of the Eyebrows

Answered as per Shafi'i Fiqh by Darul Iftaa Jordan
My eyebrows are thick, particularly from the lower part, and look funny. What is the ruling of Sharia on removing the extra hairs from that part without shaping the eyebrow?

Answer:

All perfect praise be to Allah the Lord of the Worlds. May His peace and blessings be upon our Prophet Mohammad and upon all his family and companions.

Removing the extra hair of the eyebrows, be it on the upper or lower part, or between the eyebrows is permissible particularly  if the husband has asked the wife to do that, and there is no special text prohibiting this. What is prohibited is the removal of the hair of the eyebrows itself. Moreover, some scholars defined "Nams" as removing the hair of the eyebrows while keeping the soft hair of the face and forehead. And Allah the Almighty knows best.
