‘Abdullah ibn ‘Umar (radiyallahu ‘anhuma) would make du’a at the time of Maghrib

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by HadithAnswers.com

Question

What is the authenticity of the following narration?

“‘Abdullah ibn ‘Umar (radiyallahu ‘anhuma) liked to make du’a at the time of Maghrib.”

I heard this in a lecture and It was mentioned that it is in Musannaf ibn Abi Shaybah

Answer

This narration is recorded Musannaf Ibn Abi Shaybah with a weak chain.

‘Abdullah ibn ‘Umar (radiyallahu ‘anhuma) would like to make du’a at the time of Maghrib Adhan and he said, “This is a time wherein du’a is accepted.”

(Musannaf Ibn Abi Shaybah, Hadith: 8554. Refer: Mizanul I’tidal, vol. 2 pg. 486, number: 4567 and footnotes of Shaykh Muhammad ‘Awwamah -hafizahullah- on Musannaf)

However, the narration is suitable to quote as is the rule with Hadiths of this nature. Also see here
