A Hadith stating ‘Those who send abundant salutations [durud] will be under the shade of the ‘Arsh’

I have heard that there will be three categories of people on the day of Qiyamah whom will be under the shade of the ‘Arsh [Throne] of Allah Ta’ala. One of them are those who sent abundant salutations [durud] to Nabi (sallallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam). What is the reliability of this?

This narration which mentions the three categories is besides the famous Hadith which mentions seven categories will be under the shade the ‘Arsh.

Answer

‘Allamah Sakhawi (rahimahullah) states that he has not come across a reliable source/basis for the narration in question.

(Al Qawlul Badi’, pg. 268)

There are many authentic Hadiths regarding the virtue of reciting abundant salutations. These should be quoted instead.

Sayyiduna ‘Abdullah ibn Mas’ud (radiyallahu ‘anhu) reports that Nabi (sallallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) said:

“The closest to me on the Day of Qiyamah will be those who sent the most salutations [durud]”

(Sunan Tirmidhi, Hadith: 484 and Sahih Ibn Hibban; Al Ihsan, Hadith: 911)

And Allah Ta’ala Knows best.
