Question:

Is this narration authentic?

Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) said: “If you adopt tawakkul [in the proper meaning of tawakkul], Allah will feed you like He feeds the birds. They emerge [from their nests] hungry in the morning,

Answer:

Imam Tirmidhi (rahimahullah) and other Muhaddithun have recorded this Hadith.

Sayyiduna ‘Umar ibnul Khattab (radiyallahu ‘anhu) reported that Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) said: “If you all depend on Allah with due reliance as he ought to be relied upon, you would have been granted provision/sustenance as birds are granted sustenance. They go forth hungry in the morning and return with a full belly at dusk.”

(Sunan Tirmidhi, Hadith: 2344. See additional references here)

Imam Tirmidhi (rahimahullah) has declared the Hadith authentic (hasanun sahih).

And Allah Ta’ala Knows best.
